Overwrought are proud to introduce a new range of sculptureal firplaces. This is the first prototype. These fireplaces are made of 4mm steel plate and have a fire grill to allow airflow. These fire places can also be supplied with a lid, so when they are not in use they become a garden sculpture.

Sydney Artisans in the gardens a success

November 12th, 2008

I have returned from Sydney relieved and pleased. The exhibition was a great success. I took nearly 100 pieces with me, and returned with 5. Plus I’ve got two new wholesale clients. All in all it was a great weekend. Now I just need to knuckle down and do the commissions I’ve got lined up. Oh well, off to work.

Off to Sydney

October 21st, 2008

Hi all, I’m off to sydney tommorow for the Artisans in the Gardens exhibition in the Sydney botanic gardens. I’ve spent the last week making stock for the exhibition. I’ts been a long week. I’ve also been commisioned to make some gates for Paw Paw’s urban retreat for dogs. Sometimes you just don’t know whats around the corner. I guess the thing about haveing a website is that you don’t know who is looking at it. Here is a link to my gates to see the sort of thing they want. Gates

Back again

September 30th, 2008

Hi again, This week I’m working on a pergola and awning. I will have photo’s up next week. On Tuesday I finished a noticeboard which I installed on the wall of the Daylesford Town Hall. It came up pretty well and fairly I’m happy with it. There will possibly be some more noticeboards on there way. I’m currently discovering the joys of customs. I bought some equipment from the manufacturer in China and arranged for them to shp it here, and discovered it will cost me nearly $1000 to clear it through customs. Fun and Games. I was surprised to discover that after you have paid duty on the items you then pay GST on the items and the duty. Isn’t that like paying tax on a tax? Anyway. I forgot to metion earlier that I have an online shop so if you want to buy something and can’t make it to us, you can go there and I will post it to you. Till next time.

Steel Eagle Sculture

Steel Eagle Sculture

Welcome to Overwrought metalwork and Design.
I run a company called Overwrought metalwork and design. This is my first blog entry. This blog is intended to provide information about the business, and introduce new products and projects. If there is specific information you would like from me relating to the business, then please feel free to leave a comment and I will try to answer all questions. I guess the first question to answer is What does this business do?

I produce a range of metalwork including gates, signs, security doors, garden art, sculpture and furniture. I’m always expanding my range and trying to push myself in both design and skill level.
I use mostly contemporary metalworking techniques such as welding and grinding, but I do have a gas forge which I use for some of the jobs which can only be done the old fashion way. Enough for now. Next time I’ll talk about some of the projects I’ve undertaken.
