Why does Overwrought Garden Art use metal for sculptures?

We use mild steel because it is ideal to withstand Australian climatic conditions, it can be easily shaped, and it is the most cost-effective material for our customers. 

We are able to craft garden art using corten steel and stainless steel on request only. Please note that the higher cost of corten steel and stainless steel means the finished product will cost more than its mild steel equivalent, however the results are well worth the investment.

Answer: While various types of metal can be used to make sculptures, such as bronze, aluminium and wrought-iron, we use mild steel for all our garden art pieces. Sculptures crafted from corten steel and stainless steel can be made on request, and are priced accordingly.

Question: What is your process for creating a sculpture at Overwrought Garden Art? 

Answer: We design and manufacture all our sculptures in-house using mild steel that develops its own rust patina. Our team consists of local talented artists and metalworkers, and collectively has over 15 years of experience. We are inspired by the plant and animal life found in our amazing country and they feature in many of our designs. Each piece of garden art is handcrafted using high-quality metal and tools from start to finish.
